Microsoft confirms Office 2016’s release date September 22

Microsoft finally announced official information about the start of the sale of Office 2016. According to Julie White, director of the Project Office 365, the new Microsoft Office 2016 will be published on Tuesday, September 22. The first preview version of Office 2016 appeared in February, while the final version we get in May.

On that date Office 2016 will be available for individuals, but companies will have to wait until October 1. Individual and business versions of the Office 2016 will be separated, and first of all, Microsoft will be adjusting the frequency of updates for them. For the companies that have subscribed to Office 365 ProPlus, will be available the subscription version with the new model of updates. It will be called Current Branch for Business and it will be annually brought three cumulative updates with the new improvements. The alternative is the Current Branch, which will also bring new updates on a monthly basis. The business users, i.e. administrators of the larger companies will receive special tools to upgrade so it can run smoothly. More information admins can find on Microsoft’s official website.

This will be the first version of the Office, which is designed specifically for Windows 10. Also, the software brings some long-awaited features, such as co-authoring in real time or add OneDrive attachments in the Outlook. The company previously released new features, such a Real Time Presence in Word, simplified file sharing, Insights for Office and Version History improvements, as well as the functioning of the Power Pivots. Microsoft announced that more updates and new features will come in the future.

It is not necessary to have installed Windows 10 so that could be use the Office 2016.

Microsoft has not announced the price for personal computers of its new software package.
