All About The Microsoft Surface 4 Leak

Imagine you’re enjoying yourself online, maybe googling for a Canadian Casino, when news about Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 4 leak pops up and catches your interest. Do you believe it?

A few rumours are making the rounds online about what to expect from the upcoming launch, including the release date. According to the German tech website Winfuture, both the Intel and AMD versions will be available on April 27, 2021.

The site also reports that the updates to the new notebooks will be internal, including a slightly larger battery. It expects the exterior and other specs such as display size/resolution and physical design to remain the same as the popular Microsoft Surface Laptop 3.

It’s no surprise that the new range will come with 13.5 and 15-inch options, which is the standard for the Surface Laptop line over the years. However, this time, the public can choose between Intel or AMD processors for both notebook sizes.

The leaks’ prices were listed in Euros so the actual figures may differ when the computers are available in your country.

AMD Processors

Rumour has it that the options will be the AMD Ryzen 5 4680U or AMD Ryzen 7 4980U. They are in the “Special Edition” (SE) category. If this news is accurate, it’ll disappoint many users because AMD already has the new 5000 series of chips.

People question why the Surface Laptop 4 won’t use the Ryzen 5000 with the “Zen 3” architecture. However, it’s too early to say as the chip may not be shown in these European leaks but could be available in the U.S and Canada. Microsoft typically offers a broader choice of configurations in North America than it does in Europe.

Intel Processors

Tech websites further report that on the Intel side, the Surface Laptop 4 will offer the option of either 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1145G7 or the Intel Core i7-1185G7.

The Intel datasheet lists the Iris Xe (96EUs) for their graphics processing unit and not the Iris Plus Graphics (64 EUs).

Specs

Here’s a summary of the reported specifications:

13.5-inch Surface Laptop 4

The 11th Gen Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor notebooks will have 8 GB or 16 GB RAM and 512 GB of storage.

The AMD Ryzen 5 4680U SE machines will have 8 GB or 16 GB with 256 GB storage space.

15-inch Surface Laptop 4

The Intel Core i7-1185G7 option will offer 16 GB RAM and 512 gigabytes of storage, or you can choose 32 GB RAM and one terabyte of space.

If you prefer the Ryzen 7 4980U SE notebooks, you’ll have the choice of 8 GB RAM and 256 or 512 gigabytes storage. The 16 GB machine has 512 GB.
