The Macbook Pro 13-inch 2015 looks very much like its predecessor which was an extremely good laptop, however the 2015 version has a few improvements which are not appreciated until you start using it. Featuring Force Touch pad which will respond depending on the pressure you put on when pressing, faster SSDs, improved graphics and Intel’s latest Core processors.
The Macbook pro 2015 is very thin and light considering it using full-power processors rather than the low voltage ones used by the Macbook Air, it weighs just 1.58kg, is 18mm thick making it much handier when travelling if you are using it in smaller places like planes or trains, the laptop has an aluminium casing which looks really nice.
The port configurations are also identical to the older version, there are two thunderbolt 2 ports, a USB 3.0 port, a headphone jack, and a MagSafe 2 port all on the left hand side, and on the right hand side there is a second USB 3.0 port, a SDXC card slot and also HDMI 1.4 port.
The screen quality is still really good, the 13.3 inch 2,560 X 1,600 Retina IPS screen has great colour, good contrast and is very sharp, the screen is glossy, so obviously reflects a little, but as the backlight is quite bright, you can still use it outside without any problems, the screen is top quality.
The laptop benefits from Apples superfast latest SSDs, which have improved from the previous model, and that was already pretty fast! Which speeds up everything from typing speed, to app loading times and re booting from cold.
The battery life of the Mac Pro 13 is amazing, and will give you up to 10 hours of web browsing and up to 12 hours if you are using it for watching iTunes videos, which gives you an extra hour from the previous model, which is impressive for a notebook, the built-in battery will give you up to 1000 full charge and discharge cycles.
The stereo speakers are very good, and you get quite a big sound for a laptop of its size, with a wide dynamic range, optimal balance, and a clear sound quality, so that when you are listening to music or watching videos you will get a better sound experience from the built-in speakers.
- Longer battery life
- Good quality design and build
- Comfortable keyboard
- Good graphics
- Faster SSD speeds
- Colourful and sharp screen
- New trackpad takes a little getting used to
You also get built-in microphones, which are good for when you are communicating with people, the mics will reduce some of the background noise from behind the notebook so that if are making a FaceTime call you will be heard better. Using Dictation, the mics will also create an adaptive auto beam which incredibly will adjust so that they can detect your voice, rather than all the noise around you.
The notebook has an advanced Face Time camera which is located just above the widescreen retina display, this has an image sensor that will produce colours more accurately. And even if you are in dimmer lighting conditions, it reduces image noise. You will get sharper images and reduced motion blur with the sophisticated image processor, and there is a face detection feature which will automatically adjust the exposure and white balance so that your face and skin tone looks the best regardless of what the lighting is doing behind you.
The Force Touch trackpad is a little different, and might take a little bit of getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it’s quite fun to use, when you press it, it feels like it clicks, although the technology used is just creating the sensation of clicking. The Trackpad can sense how hard you are tapping, pressing down harder will give you a second deeper click that is used for secondary functions in many Apple apps, and another example, in Safari it will bring up web link previews that you can scroll through.

The design of the Mac Book pro 13 inch hasn’t really changed from the last model, but there really isn’t anything wrong with the older version, it is a nice sleek design, with the aluminium casing and sleek and slim look, it does look good. The main difference of the newer model is the new Trackpad which is a good feature, the pressure sensitivity can tell the difference between a light tap and a deep press which allows you to things such as adjust the speed, zooming in on a map and lots of other cool stuff.
