How does will writing work?

There’s a lot of things everyone tends to do when they are getting invested in their career. Whether it’s buying a house for yourself, starting a family, investing money in businesses or other organizations, or setting up a pension for when you retire,  it’s important to get a will made which will protect your assets and place them in the hands of your loved ones so they aren’t in trouble in the future after your death.

Having a will can provide reassurance to your loved ones when you die, your property and other assets will be dealt with however you wish them to be in your will. One of the more significant advantages of having a will is that it is tax-efficient, tax-liability will be highly minimized if you have a legitimate will at the time of your death.

What if I don’t make a will?

Not having a will results in the person’s death being named intestate, such death can have various serious damages on the people you leave behind. An intestate death results in a probate court distributing the individual’s assets whichever way they want. Often resulting in fights in the family by the unfair distribution of assets, these fights can go from being personal to a lawsuit.

Take Bob Marley for example, Marley did not make a will. He left an estimated $30 million and after having his money distributed unfairly across Marley’s family, sparked many bitter lawsuits that are still taking place. A probate court divides the assets according to the rules of intestacy, these rules were set in place several hundred years ago since the prevalence of people dying without wills were second to none. These rules are inflexible and are known to not necessarily reflect the deceased’s wishes.

The art behind will writing:

If you or someone you know has even written a will or had someone write it on their behalf, ask them about the procedure, or choose the better alternative and look for people who work in will writing. A professional will writer will be straightforward with you and put you in a win-win situation which is as good as it gets.

The process of will writing is very different than other legal documents – If you choose to work with online will writers, which is the option we urge you to avail. You’ll be given a form where you’ll be asked questions you’ll be comfortable in answering and then some information about the people you choose to leave your belongings to, this information is protected under most online will writer’s safety policy which disallows them from sharing this information to anyone without your consent.

This is a big concern people have, giving someone tons of information about themselves and their family over the internet when it’s a known fact that the internet is a scary place. This is why most online will writers have such policies in place so that you feel safe when you consult them. Similar to getting a will-written in-person, the information can be double-checked by you throughout the process, and after you’re satisfied with it, a simple document before you know it is reviewed and legalized by a solicitor.
